An explaination for my sexism, pants equation

I can’t stand a “Natural” argument for anything. Whenever someone implies something is normal for humans because it’s always existed in the past I usually say something like “You can’t make that claim unless you’re wearing a loincloth, chasing fresh gazelle on the savannah.”

People like to excuse behaviors like sexism, racism, and infidelity, by claiming it’s part of the human condition, they’ve existed for millions of years. Well pants have existed for hundreds, meaning change is possible. If you like pants maybe you’ll like a world without sexism.

A better, but admittedly less funny, example is vegetarianism. There was a time in human development when we didn’t eat meat. Then we did. And now it’s a choice. “Natural” would mean picking a point in history and claiming it’s the norm but that’s neither here nor there when we have the power to choose. You can choose not to be sexist like you can choose not to eat meat. There have been matriarchal societies and patriarchal societies throughout human history but using that as an excuse now just means you’re a lazy asshole.
